A Year to Remember
It’s been an incredible 12 months for Shaping Cloud with a number of significant milestones and wins that have underpinned another period of growth in the business. I am immensely proud of the team and what they have been able to achieve and having this work recognised by Microsoft UK really does cap things off perfectly.
In the past year the business has launched two new consultancy services targeted at helping organisations transition to cloud. Both SC:Strategy and SC:Transform have been tremendously well received, particularly within Local and Regional Government. Our work with the likes of Wokingham Borough Council, the London Boroughs of Newham and Havering and Lancashire County Council have demonstrated the huge potential for Azure to underpin some dramatic service transformations.
This isn’t just about cutting costs but about fundamentally re-imagining the way technology is used to support the critical services the councils provide.
The year has also been significant in that we have launched two new products, something that has always been seen as a key building block for the future growth in our business. foiPRO was developed after seeing first hand the challenge faced by organisations who fall under the Freedom of Information Act. It is the first piece of cloud based software built specifically to improve the overall management and compliance of the act.
Our second product launch was for Spinr, a new breed of cloud service called Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS). The platform connects an organisations cloud based systems with their traditional on-premise line of business systems and provides the ability to unify these systems into a single entity upon which rich process workflows can be run. For example, a citizen changing their address from a council website will trigger an operation that ensures this data flows through all systems without the need for manual input.
The history of Shaping Cloud was built on our ability to deliver innovative software solutions on Azure and this year has been no exception to that. We’ve been lucky to work with some fantastic companies; Agrimetrics, an Innovate UK funded organisation who are tasked with building a Data Platform for the UK Agriculture industry. Bubble are a London based start-up looking to provide a better way for parents to find trusted babysitters and Green Collar Foods are leveraging the power of IoT to create a new approach to Urban Indoor Farming.
Partnering with Microsoft
From the very beginning, our company strategy was built around Azure and cloud computing becoming the de facto way for IT services to be delivered in the future. As Azure has grown and developed so has Shaping Cloud and we are hugely excited both for the recognition that this award brings but also the future of our partnership with Microsoft. Huge progress has been made and it is important to take time to enjoy and reflect on those achievements. I believe, however, that there is so much more to come and I am incredibly excited about the opportunities in front of us.
