What’s new in Microsoft Teams?

What updates can we expect from Microsoft Teams in 2021

Meet, chat, call and collaborate in just one place. Microsoft Teams has become one of the leading video conferencing and instant messaging applications in today’s digital landscape. Making meeting easier, more flexible, and more effective.

So, what should we expect from Microsoft Teams in 2021? Here is our top 3!

Microsoft Teams PowerPoint Live

PowerPoint Live transforms the presenting experience.

Microsoft has created an entirely new remote presenting experience, benefiting both presenters and audience members. Instead of opening a PowerPoint deck and sharing your screen, PowerPoint Live allows you to pick a file under the PowerPoint Live section and share the content within Teams.

When presenting, sharing engaging content is of course the primary need for any user, however, to be able to be truly successful “reading the room” and the body language of your audience is important. With PowerPoint Live in Microsoft Teams, you see everything that is happening in one place, while also being able to see what is ahead to make transitions seamless.

Presenter View: Gives you all the tools to present confidently, you have full control over your content. The view you see as the presenter is yours only – review notes, engage in chats, and see your audience – all in one panel view. This private view allows the presenter to see everything in one place while the audience sees only the active slide.

Seamless transition between presenters: If you have co-presenters they can seamlessly “take control” and get instant access to the presenter view. Control can be easily between shared between several presenters.

Presenter Mode: Presenter Mode is the latest innovation from Microsoft Teams that helps you feel like you are in the room together. Seeing the speaker can help your audience stay focused and use you as their visual guide.

Microsoft Intelligent speakers – The perfect Microsoft Teams Companion

Microsoft has announced a new addition to its line up of Microsoft Teams devices, in the form of intelligent speakers.

The two new Microsoft Teams speakers include a special 7-array microphone that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and differentiate the voices of up to 10 people in meetings and can apply their name and profile to a live meeting transcript. Regardless of whether you are remote working or following a meeting within a conference room, you can effectively transcribe who said what during the meeting.

To protect privacy and security during a meeting, the users are provided with an option, which they can turn attribution on or off at any time whilst using an intelligent speaker.

Microsoft Teams Security, Privacy and Compliance Features

Having a meeting infiltrated by uninvited guests is never enjoyable, but during the COVID-19 Pandemic this has become a frequent occurrence for many users. With the new Invite-Only Meeting controls in Microsoft Team, only participants who are directly invited can attend the meeting.

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) for 1:1 Teams Calls

Teams will support end-to-end encryption for organizations to help customers meet their security and compliance requirements by providing an additional option for conducting sensitive online conversations. This security feature will be rolled out to one-to-one audio and video call primarily and will be extended to online teams’ meetings.
